1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using HeatBuddy (“the Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. What HeatBuddy is

HeatBuddy is a price comparison directory for home heating oil dealers in the U.S. Northeast. Prices displayed on the Site are either reported by community members, submitted by dealers, or collected from publicly available sources. We do not sell heating oil and are not a party to any transaction between you and a dealer.

3. Price accuracy

Prices on HeatBuddy are informational only and may not reflect current dealer pricing. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any price displayed. Always confirm the current price directly with the dealer before placing an order.

4. User accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree not to:

• Share your account with others
• Use another person’s account without permission
• Create accounts for automated or fraudulent purposes

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Price reports and reviews

When you submit a price report or review, you represent that:

• The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge
• You are not affiliated with the dealer in a way that would create a conflict of interest
• The content does not contain false, defamatory, or misleading information

By submitting content, you grant HeatBuddy a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content on the Site.

6. Business listings and claims

Business listings on HeatBuddy may be created from publicly available information. If you claim a listing, you represent that you are authorized to act on behalf of that business. Claimed listings must maintain accurate, up-to-date information.

7. Advertising

Advertisers agree to our advertising policies (available at the time of booking). All ads are subject to review and approval. HeatBuddy reserves the right to reject or remove ads that violate our category guidelines or community standards. Advertising fees are non-refundable except as required by law.

8. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent price reports or reviews
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Site without permission
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site
• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
• Interfere with the Site’s operation or other users’ access

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that prices or dealer information are accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HeatBuddy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, including reliance on price information displayed.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction.
